CATTLE FOR SALE

A2A2 2025 Jersey Bull Calf ($1,000)

Elvis is a sweet bottle baby calf I picked up from a dairy in Tillamook County, Oregon where I get my Jersey girls. I performed genetic testing on him and like the results.  If he doesn't sell, I won't be sand and plan to use him as a clean-up bull after AI with my Jerseys girls because he should throw some nice calves (in 2026). He's currently living in a mixed herd. I tested for the four milk proteins listed below. Feel free to research to learn more about them.

Date of birth: April 30, 2025
100% Jersey, not registered
Horned gene, disbudded
Beta-casein (A1/A2): A2A2 (best profile)
Kappa-casein (ABE): BB (ideal for cheesemaking, best profile)
Beta-casein (AB): AA (higher milk yield, best profile depends on use)
Beta-lactoglobulin (AB): AA (lower protein in whey, least desireable but most common profile)

A1A2 2024 Bred Heifer ($2,000)

Marianne is a favorite around here and we were diappointed when she came back A1A2 - we were told by a dairy (not the one I now buy from exclusively in Tillamook OR) that she was A2A2. I've included the results for four dairy proteins genetic testing results. If A2A2 isn't a deal breaker for you, she would be a wonderful family cow. She is so sweet and friendly. She had her bangs vaccine under a year old and has never had any health problems or illness. I am firm on the $2,000. If she doesn't sell, I don't have any qualms about keeping her for years as a nurse cow she's so great.

Date of birth: January 18, 2024
100% Jersey, not registered, horned
Beta-casein (A1/A2): A1A2 (moderate profile)
Kappa-casein (ABE): AB (moderately good profile)
Beta-casein (AB): AA (higher milk yield, best profile depends on use)
Beta-lactoglobulin (AB): AB (moderate protein in whey, moderately desireable an more rare profile)

A2A2 Jersey Heifer Calves

SOLD OUT FOR 2025 - May request for 2026

I am pcking up Jersey heifers from a top Jersey breeder and dairy in Tillamook County, Oregon this spring 2025. I am bringing back extras to sell to cost the cover of my trip and share the joy of owning your own milk cow with others in this area. All the heifer calves received colostrum, are well-fed at the dairy, have been disbudded if not polled, and have ear tags. All will be registered within about 60 days after purchase in your name by the dairy of origin (unless getting a non-registered calf). They will need shelter from the elements, especially while it is cold. They are being fed 4-6 pints of milk twice daily and will need to continue to be bottle fed. All heifer calves will have DNA testing, which will be available to you after I pick them up. Prices I charge are directly related to what the dairy charges. This is what they cost spring 2025:

A2A2 disbudded 3-4 week old heifer calf: $1,000
Add $50 for each additional week of age (a dairy surcharge)
Add $100 for polled (may not be available - wasn't in 2024, one in 2025)
Discount of $50 if A1A2 profile
Discount of $50 if not registerable

Not registerable and A1/A2 calves require a $400 deposit by cash, Zelle, or Venmo per calf the week of pick up. These calves are harder to sell if your purchase of them falls through, thus the deposit. After I get the list of available calves, I will need the deposit that day or the next so I have a complete list of calves for the veterinarian and brand inspection to allow me to legally transport them interstate.

See below for more details about this process.

Spring Calves 2025

SOLD OUT FOR 2025 - Another trip in 2026 expected

This spring I plan to purchase a several Jersey heifer calves from a commercial dairy in Tillamook County, Oregon. I have done this in prior years, and I also purchase additional calves to sell to cover the cost of the trip. I've purchased dairy calves before, but these have consistently been the best I've seen so despite the distance, I'm go back.

If you are interested in purchasing one or more Jersey heifer calves from me (as described below), please email or text me:
  • Your name
  • Your email
  • What you are interested in (how many and any preferences such as older or younger)
  • Phone number

I keep a list of potential buyers (see the bottom of this page). No deposit is required to be included on the potential buyer list. I have already contacted the dairy where I purchase calves to let them know I am purchasing a group again this year. I have not requested a specific date for 2026 yet and when I do have a date, it is subject to change (been delayed a week twice before). I am working with the dairy to select the week when they expect to have the most A2A2 heifer calves available.

I will email out periodic updates usually starting the end of March. I request that buyers respond to that email to let me know if they are or are not still interested, if their requested number has changed, and if they prefer younger or older calves. For those who are still interested, I also ask for their phone numbers if it has not been provided already. I use this to text pictures of the group once they are picked up. I will also text along the route with anyone I have planned to meet on my way home.

Prices
My prices are based off of what the dairy charges and change if the dairy changes their prices. In 2024, they increased their prices from the beginning of their calving season (January) to when I picked them up in May based on heavy demand, and prices stayed steady at the higher price in 2025. I still feel that the quality of their calves make them a good value. The price not only includes the calves, but their genetic testing and registration for heifers. If the price increases between now and pick up, you are not obligated to purchase them or lose any deposit. The price will be firm if your calf requires a deposit. Brand inspection and health certificate specific to you and your destination (if you chose to have them) are an additional cost, which I can let you know closer to time.

Tentative Schedule
I am tenatively planning to pick up calves after their [date to be determined for 2026] morning feeding. I then drive home all day from Tillamook County OR to Harrison ID but will make short planned stops along my route to meet buyers to help cut down on their drive time and reduce the stress on the calves (one trip instead of two). While I would love to be flexible with this, I will have a short window of time when we meet and will plan the location of my stops to reduce total travel for the whole group of calves. If you want to meet me along my route, please let me know the general area (town & state) where you are located.

If not meeting me along my route, the calves are available for pick up at my homestead in Harrison, Idaho on [dates to be determined - a two day window]. I will hold heifer calves for specific buyers those two days only. The following Monday (and each Monday after that), the price of the calves increases by $50. Even though there is more flexibility with picking up the heifer calves, my goal is to get them moved on to their their family as soon as possible.

Schedule is Subject to Change
Even with a confirmed pick up with the dairy, the date may change. Last two years, the DNA results that came in the planned week of pickup had only a few A2A2 Jersey heifers in the whole group, so the pick up was postponed to when there were more than ten available. That one week of only a few was an anomoly, but it does have the potential to happen again. I will provide updates the week scheduled for picking up calves.

Registration
At the time of purchase or after, please let me know what you plan to call the calf - just a simple name such as "Bessie" or "Loretta Lynn", which the dairy will include in the registered name. I will also need your mailing address and the owner name you would like on the heifer's registration. I will then pass all of this information on to the dairy. The dairy waits to accumulate this information from many buyers to batch enter them so they ask for 60 days. The registration should then come in the mail with the information you provided me. Non-registerable heifers do not need to worry about any of this as they are not registered.

Guarantee

I do not offer any health or survival guarantee for any of the calves I have transported once they are transferred from me to you. There are just to many variables outside of my control. Calves are usually pretty solid travelers when they are three weeks or older. I will not knowingly sell you a sick or injured animal without telling you first. You are welcomed to inspect the animals thoroughly yourself, with an animal-savvy friend, or a veternarian at your expense.

Health Certifcate & Brand Inspection
I obtain a health certificate for the group of calves, but this is not a guarantee of health, either. Health certificates are issued by veterinarians after they inspect the group of animals for any obvious manifestations of diseases that they may spread to animals or people in another area. That said, I have had no deaths or illnesses among the heifer calves. I do request all buyers to please notify me if any of their calves are sick or die within two weeks of getting them. This provides me good feedback to help avoid such losses in the future.

If you would like a health certificate and brand inspection in your name with your address as the destination, please notify me of this prior to the week when the pick up is planned. I will coordinate with the dairy of origin to have additional documents prepared for you. Specific animals must also be selected, so I will need to coordinate more closely with the dairy to respect the order of potential buyer requests. The costs last year was $35/health certificate and $35/brand inspection recipient + $2.75/head, so $72.75 for one calf, $75.50 for two, etc. I expect Montana-destined calves to cost more. I do not have pricing for 2026. I do not obtain a new inspection or health certificate once home in Idaho, so you will need it coordinated by the dairy in Oregon and pick them up promptly. It is the buyer's responsibility to comply with their local laws, but I do not "report" anyone.

I obtain a brand inspection and health certificate for the entire group of calves in my name with my address as the destination prior to transporting them since I'm crossing state lines. I provide a copy of this to each buyer after the sale. I will also email you a receipt indicating you purchased the calf, the date, and price. A couple of months later, you should recieve the registration in your name if getting a registerable Jersey. These documents all help establish ownership if you later need to sell or transport your Jersey and prove ownership.
