EAST FRIESIAN DAIRY SHEEP FOR SALE
Bred Dairy Ewes
PLEASE NOTE: all bred ewes must be picked up no later than March 15, 2025.
I have bred ewes that are due to lamb as early as late April 2025. These are the same ewes that I will be selling as ewes in milk, but by purchasing before they are in milk, I am not charging for the lamb, especially with the ones who are bred back to dairy rams. It's a good opportunity to save a little money.
2023 Dairy ewe bred to a meat (suffolk-texel) ram: $850 (bottle baby) or $800 (dam raised)
2024 Diary ewe bred to a meat (suffolk-texel) ram: $800 (dam raised)
2019 Diary ewe bred to a dairy ram: $750 (bottle baby) or $700 (dam raised)
If you are purchasing more than one ewe, there is a $50 discount on each additional ewe you purchase at the same time.

Ewes in Milk (with or without lamb)
Late April and through May 2025, I expect to have several ewes that have lambed and are in milk available for sale. This combo includes a ewe in milk with her daughter or castrated son. Having the lamb gives you the opportunity to milk her if you want or leave the lamb on her to keep her producing without the obligation to milk every 12 hours. When you want to milk, just separate her from her lamb for 6-12 hours, then milk her until dry. Once the lamb is four weeks old, you can easily separate them from their dam daily for half the day, just make sure you provide the lambs good feed while separated. Lambs can be weaned at eight weeks old but can also be left on until the ewe stops lactating or weans the lamb herself. Pure East Friesians are usually butcher ready at 8-10 months, but Suffolk are often ready sooner. These ewes have not been milked previously. The 2024 ewes will not produce as much as the 2023 ewes who will be at about 80-90% of the mature production. Yearlings tend to average around 50% of mature production. The older ewes should produce more and are more likely to twin, but that doesn't mean a yearling won't twin and a mature ewe won't single. I do sometimes get triplets from ewes that are four or older.
If you want a ewe in milk without a lamb, please let me know, and that should be an option in most cases.

Bottle Baby Lambs (April-May 2025)
I usually end up with a few bottle fed lambs, more than I want to keep. These lambs will need to be fed after being purchased. Lamb formula is usually available and farm stores such as North 40. The price is based on the age of the lamb when you pick them up. These usually turn into very gentle and friendly lambs.
Dairy Ewe Lamb: $300 if up to 7 days old, then +$50 for each additional week of age until weaning (at 4-6 weeks).
Dairy Wether Lamb: $50 if up to 7 days old, then +$50 for each additional week of age.
Meat-Dairy Ewe or Wether Lamb: $75 if up to 7 days old, then +$50 for each additional week of age.

Ram or Ram Lamb (April 2025 or Later)
For 2025, I will have up to two 100% dairy ram lambs for sale. They will be priced as follows:
$500 if up to 7 days old, then +$50 for each additional week of age until weaning.
$750 weaned ram (bottle fed or dam raised) aged 8-10 weeks, then +$25 for each additional week of age.
(If buying a ram and ewe(s) and you would like them unrelated, I recommend making arrangements before lambing so I can select the right individuals to build your little flock. This becomes more difficult as sheep are sold, and I have fewer options for building a flock.)
Please email me if you are interested in being put on an email list for updates on ram lambs or a starter flock with a ram that is not related to the ewes.
